Leaky Gut & SIBO Healing

The Davis-Robbins-Nuzum-Fife Protocol

Heal your gut and your gut will heal you.

Where do I start?

Start the 4 step protocol

1.) START the Dr. William Davis Wheat Belly no-wheat and no-grain protocol.

2.) START:

3.) START the DrNuzum.com recommended probiotics and supplements for leaky gut and SIBO.

4.) START adding small amounts of coconut products (ketones) to your diet. Coconut chips, shredded coconut, coconut milk or coconut oil. Start with small amounts to let your system adjust.

Major Factors Contributing to Leaky Gut

The main factor contributing to Leaky Gut is gut microbiome imbalance/dysbiosis.

Many people who have Leaky Gut also have SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth). In fact, Leaky Gut and SIBO may be the same thing.

Leaky gut and SIBO lead to chronic destructive microbial overgrowth in either the small or large intestine or both. These destructive germs are different than the healthy, probiotic bacteria that are essential for a healthy gut microbiome (flora).

More factors contributing to Leaky Gut include metabolic imbalances, the standard western processed-artificial food diet, food and environmental toxins, genetically weak body organs and candida overgrowth.

Dual Strategy

The strategy for improving and/or healing leaky gut is a.) strengthen the weak body and intestinal tissue and b.) reduce destructive bacterial overgrowth. This includes both eating habits and change to a low-stress lifestyle.

Strengthening weak body is the most important. Healthy body tissue rejects destructive germs. The weak tissue allows the destructive germ growth.

Why the Microbial Overgrowth in the Gut?

...Candida is especially insidious because it is capable of changing its form if allowed to grow. If left unchallenged, candida converts from a single-celled form into a multi-celled or mycellial fungal form with hairy , root-like projections called rhizoids.... ~ Page 55, Coconut Cures, Preventing and Treating Common Health Problems with Coconut, By Bruce Fife N.D.

These rhizoids penetrate into the intestinal wall. When candida or bacteria penetrate the intestinal wall it affects the intestines' ability to absorb vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids, leading to nutritional deficiencies. As the intestinal wall becomes perforated it allows bacteria, toxins and undigested food to pass across the intestinal barrier and enter the bloodstream. This condition has been called leaky gut syndrome. ~ Ibid.

Even relatively harmless bacteria, if allowed to enter the bloodstream, can cause infections. This often results in chronic low-grade infections and inflammations that can lead to a number of symptoms and feelings of ill health. ~ Ibid.

Undigested proteins from our food are allowed to pass through the intestinal wall and migrate into the bloodstram. The immune system identifies these food proteins as foreign invaders and initiates a frantic attack, resulting in allergy symptoms. So your food allergies may be caused by an imbalance in the microbial environment of your digestive tract. ~ Ibid.

The entire body is affected by the health of the digestive tract. The health of the digestive system is so important to our overall health that many natural health practitioners believe that all chronic health problems originate in the intestines. ~ Ibid.

What do good bacteria like to eat? They prefer foods rich in fiber - vegetables, whole grains, legumes and coconut...Candida and other hamful microbes prefer simple carbohydrates - sweets and refined flour products...Certain drugs, especially antibiotics, promote the growthof troublesome microbes. Antibiotics kill freindly bacteria just a efficiently as they kill disease-causing bacteria.... ~ Page 55, Coconut Cures, Preventing and Treating Common Health Problems with Coconut, By Bruce Fife N.D.
